Back in July I headed up to Winton Raceway to shoot Vic Drift's open practice day, there was a nice assortment of cars there on the day, and alot of talent.
This was the first time I had ever photographed Drifting, actually the first motor sport event I have been to with the camera. So at first I found Panning fairly difficult, but I got more comfortable as the day went on. One of my first shots of the day was of this red S14, which ended up being one of my favourite shots in the end.
The Garage Low MX-5 / Miata was there putting on a nice display, getting plenty of angle through the S-Bend, and getting the power down onto the straight.
Nigel Petrie put on an awesome show all day long.
I personally love Nigel's cars, it was a pleasure to watch him at work in his 180, I'll get some photos of the Ute and Trailer in the pits next time, and hopefully one day get a shot or two of his beautiful 2-Tone S13.
Proudly supporting his sponsors on the rear 1/4 window
Nick Oriander in his FC RX7, very consistent all day long.
the FC sounded absolutely mental
One of my favourite cars on the day was Chris Johnson's R32 on Blue TE37's. When he is back at Winton in October I'll be trying to get a photo of it spitting flames.
another of my favourites was this S13, half in primer, the roof spoiler sets it off perfectly, and the illest sticker placement is spot on.
This VL Commodore Wagon was a stand out on the day, getting plenty of smoke considering the track was damp from light rain during the day.
This very neat R31 was another consistent performer on the day.
A very nice R32, twin Pod Filters sticking out of the left headlight made it clear he was serious.
Thats all from me for now, I'll be back at Winton on the 4th of September for the VicDrift Member's Practice day.
